CREATING YOUR WEDDING VISION

HOW TO CRAFT YOUR DREAM WEDDING DAY

Your wedding day is a reflection of your UNIQUE love story and a celebration you and your spouse will REMINISCE over for the rest of your lives.

Crafting a wedding vision is one of the most exciting and important steps in the wedding planning process. It sets a foundation for creating a celebration that authentically reflects your love story. By reflecting on your relationship, gathering inspiration, and defining your style, you can create a cohesive vision that guides your decisions and ensures a truly memorable day.

1. Reflect on your relationship

Take some time together as a couple and reflect on your relationship. How’d you fall in love? What things define your love story? Review your shared values, interests, and meaningful moments and how you might want to incorporate them into your wedding day. Think about the overall atmosphere, emotions and memories you want to create for yourselves and for your guests.

2. Gather some INSPIRATION

My favorite part of wedding planning! Start collecting inspo from all your available sources- Pinterest, wedding blogs like Forever Swoonful, wedding magazines and social media platforms. These sources can provide ideas for themes, color palettes, decor, attire, gifts and so much more. HOWEVER- pay attention to the details and ideas that resonate the most with you and your personalities. Don’t fall into the Pinterest trap and end up on a completely unrelated topic.

3. Define your wedding style

There are so many different styles and themes to choose from. Whether it’s classic and elegant, rustic and whimsical, modern and minimalistic or boho and eclectic, defining your wedding style will serve as a guiding principle throughout the planning process. Pick the style that resonates the best with you as a couple.

4. Set priorities

Priorities, priorities, am I right?

Discuss your priorities as a couple and determine the aspects of your wedding that matter most to you. Is it the venue, the food, the photog, or the overall guest experience? Identifying your priorities will help you create a budget and make informed decisions when it comes to choosing vendors and allocating your resources.

5. Create a mood board

Grab all those Pinterest pins and ideas and compile them into a mood board. Your mood board is a visual representation of your wedding vision and will help you see how different elements come together cohesively. Includes images, color swatches, fabric samples and other visual references that align with your desired aesthetic. Refer back to this mood board often throughout the planning process to ensure consistency.

6. Communicate with your partner & Vendors

Just like in most aspects of life, communication is crucial during the wedding planning process with your partner and your vendors. Openly discuss your expectations and collaborate with your partner to ensure both of your visions are incorporated into the overall vision.

Clearly express your ideas and work closely with your vendors to bring your vision to life and hoan in on their expertise and suggestions. Vendors love getting a feel for your vision, so feel free to share your mood boards and Pinterest page.

7. Stay true to yourself

While seeking inspiration and advice can be helpful, don’t let it be harmful. Wedding day, and all the festivities leading up to the big day, should ultimately reflect your personalities and preferences. Don’t feel pressured to conform to modern trends or invite that 4th cousin from New London. Stay true to yourselves and make choices that genuinely resonate with you as a couple.

8. Evolve & adapt

Wedding planning can be a wild ride and it’s natural for your vision to change throughout the process. Don’t hesitate to be flexible and embrace change! As you explore new vendors and spend hours on Pinterest, allow your vision of wedding day to grow into exactly what you envisioned.

Embrace the process, stay true to yourselves and let your wedding vision be a reflection of the beautiful love story you share.
